Stadium Suites (that is us)
The honest pitch. Modern interiors, private locked bedrooms each with its own ensuite bath, and you walk to your seat in about ten minutes while everyone else sits in the Main Street traffic reroute. Pricing works out per bedroom, which on a football Saturday usually lands well under what downtown hotels charge per room. On-site parking with a covered option, so your car stays put all weekend. Professionally managed by Great Stays, a local operator, with self check-in and a real human when you need one.
The honest catch. Ten of our eleven townhomes are co-living style: bedrooms are private and locked with their own baths, but the kitchen and living room in each townhome are shared. If you book the whole townhome as a group, that is a feature: your crew gets a living room to gather in before and after the game. If you are a solo traveler or couple who wants a traditional fully private hotel room, we may not be your pick, and one of the downtown boutiques below will treat you well. (We also have one fully private 3-bedroom townhome with its own kitchen, living area, patio, and entrance. It books whole, and it goes first.)

The downtown boutiques (Graduate, Bell Tower)
Real charm, walkable to restaurants and campus, and the Graduate lobby is one of the best rooms in Ann Arbor. The trade-off: you are a 25 minute walk from the stadium, rates spike hard on football weekends, and parking is garage-based and separate. Good pick for couples who care more about downtown than kickoff proximity.
The extended stay cluster (Residence Inn, Sonesta, Extended Stay America, Homewood, Home2)
Kitchens, weekly rates, predictable rooms. All of them sit 1.7 to 2.6 miles out near Briarwood or the highway, which means driving on game day and paying for event parking, or a long ride. For a 30+ day stay, compare their weekly rate against a Stadium Suites bedroom a short walk from the Michigan Medicine south campus side; for a game weekend, the traffic math rarely works in their favor.
The shuttle-and-highway hotels (Kensington, Hampton, Holiday Inn, DoubleTree, Marriott Ypsilanti)
Solid properties, and the Kensington runs a genuinely convenient shuttle. But you are 2 to 6 miles out. On a home Saturday, police reroute traffic around the stadium, and the drive back to a highway hotel after the game can take longer than the fourth quarter. If you have points to burn, they make sense. If the weekend is about the game, distance is the whole ballgame.
Airbnb and VRBO rentals
Whole-house privacy, and on non-football weekends there are good deals. On game weekends expect two-night minimums, cleaning fees, surge pricing, and wide variance in management quality. If you want the whole-place feel with professional management and no roulette, booking out a full Stadium Suites townhome gets you there.
What about after the game?
Fair question, because the truth is there is nothing to do at the stadium once the crowd clears. The Big House sits in a neighborhood, not an entertainment district. Here is the thing though: staying next to the stadium does not strand you, it puts you between the stadium and everything else.
From Stadium Suites you can walk to:
- Main Street downtown(about a 20 minute walk): the post-game corridor. Jolly Pumpkin, Grizzly Peak, Blue Tractor, HopCat, the Ravens Club, and a dozen more bars and restaurants. This is where Ann Arbor goes after a win.
- S. University / campus bars(about a 20 minute walk): Good Time Charley's, Ashley's, Scorekeepers, Brown Jug. The classic student-and-alumni scene.
